The McDonald College – We nurture creative learning

At The McDonald College our students are encouraged to excel academically whilst pursuing their passion for performance. Our education program integrates performing arts within an attentive academic environment to foster creativity, a love of learning, and to help our students achieve excellence. With a 10-hour week dedicated to the stream of their choice, students receive an immersive education as they learn with like-minded individuals whilst being taught by industry specialists who are at the top of their field.

We believe that creative learning prepares students for life beyond the classroom and encourages them to be innovative citizens seeking to make a positive difference within their chosen field.

Our Voyager Tennis program is currently one of the strongest elite tennis programs in the country with students relocating from Asia and Europe to participate. Students train for up to three hours a day as they work towards being tomorrow’s world-class tennis stars. Some highlights have included Anastasia Berezov winning the Under 12’s Claycourt Nationals in Canberra and Ethan Lye winning the STA Open in Singapore in 2016.

The McDonald College offers exciting extra-curricular activities for students wishing to participate in the performing arts. Year 7 – 9 students have the chance to perform at the Tianjin International Youth Arts Festival China, which the College has been doing for eight years. This opportunity gives students the chance to showcase Australian culture and music to an international audience. Premier State Ballet, Australia’s leading youth ballet company, gives students the opportunity to prepare as a semi-professional ballet dancers, and has been the launching pad to members of The Australian Ballet, San Francisco Ballet Co., English National Ballet and more.

The McDonald College After Hours Program offers classes in R.A.D. Classical Ballet, Preschool Ballet, A.DA Modern Jazz & Tap, Contemporary, Hip Hop & Funk, Musical Theatre, and Private Musical Lessons, and is available to students of the College and to the general public.The McDonald College also offers exciting school holidays programs in ballet and dance for those interested in receiving industry tuition from international teachers, such as The Royal Ballet.
